Financial Analysis and Benchmarking for Your Growing Business

This program provides exposes the weaknesses inherent in common measurements of working capital.  We will show you how to extend traditional statement analysis by calculating your Net Balance Position (NBP).  Understanding the Net Balance Position of your organization will prepare you to anticipate and respond to emerging liquidity challenges. You will learn how to use the NBP to monitor the health of your company and when to take corrective measures. It will also introduce Fintel, a benchmarking tool that small businesses can utilize to evaluate their performance relative to their peers and to broaden their financial statement reporting.

 

These tools will help you plan a financial strategy to become a top 25% performer in your industry.  This is a hands-on workshop.  You are going to roll up your sleeves; so bring your calculator, current annual balance sheet and income statement along.

Instructor

Dr. Phil Greenwood, provides management advisory and development services to middle market and early stage enterprises in the area of strategic planning, finance, and accounting.  As an educator in the fields of accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship, Phil has conducted numerous courses for MBA, Executive MBA and executive education customers.  He is an adjunct faculty member for the Weinert Center of Entrepreneurship of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.  He has advised five teams that have placed first and second in International Business Plan Competitions for MBA students.  

 

In addition to education, Phil has assisted firms in the development of strategic and financial plans that raised equity financing of $2 million to $10 million each for biotechnology, high-tech manufacturers, and other service organizations.  Notable clients include Deltanoid Pharmaceuticals of Madison, Wisconsin; Imago Scientific of Madison; and Higher Dimension Medical of Woodbury, Minnesota.

 

 Phil is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Illinois and has earned a BBA-Accounting and a MBA - Finance/Entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Business.  He recently obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy in Continuing Education (minor in Entrepreneurship) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
