Minimizing Risk – Protecting your company in the age of breaches & hacks

Overview

This comprehensive one-day class will help you understand the problems related to cyber security and proactively take action against them. In this course you will be informed by experts on existing circumstances, assess your needs, prioritize your actions and create a plan.

Material

Section I: Understanding the Problems

  • Hear from industry experts of the current situation & real issues businesses are faced with.
  • Find out what the hackers really want and the cost to businesses.
  • Learn what laws are involved and what you must do if it does happen to you.

Section II: Assess & Analyze

  • Identify your potential threats and analyze your risks so you can put together a plan of defense.

Section III: Plan and Prioritize

  • Learn where to start to develop your plan including the resources, budget and what needs to be included.

Section IV: Cyber Insurance

  • Learn whether or not you need cyber insurance and what you need to know about it.

Section V: Communication plan

  • Who you need to communicate to and what you need to say when something happens.

Section VI: Putting it together

  • Your action plan to put in place when you leave here today.

Cancellation policy: If you cancel before the program begins, there is a $25 cancellation fee. If you cancel after the program begins you will be charged for the full program fee. To cancel, call registration at 608-262-3909.

Instructors

Audrey Randall

Audrey Randall is the President of Risk Academy 101. She has over twenty five years of experience in the insurance and risk management industry with seventeen of those years as a successful sales and marketing executive in the commercial property and casualty arena. She has successfully worked with clients in a variety of industries to help them manage their risks and purchase the right insurance coverage. Risk Academy 101 is a risk management consulting firm providing affordable risk management solutions. Audrey has earned designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and prior to her move to Madison served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS).

 

Laura Fay

Laura Fay is the Agency Liaison for the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. As the Agency Liaison, Laura travels around the state to educate the public, businesses, and law enforcement on the importance of privacy protection and data security. Laura is a graduate of the University of Washington-Seattle with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, and has a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Laura’s background in financial education and identity theft began while working as a Financial Specialist for UW Credit Union.

 

Byron Franz

Byron Franz is a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and has worked national security matters for over 20 years. He currently serves as the FBI Milwaukee office’s Private Sector Coordinator, where his job is to raise awareness of cyber and insider threats to business, academia, and state/local governments. He holds a B.A. in Russian and a law degree, both from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

 

 

Brian Lee

Brian Lee, APR, is the president of Revelation PR, Advertising & Social Media, an integrated communications agency he founded in January 2011, as well as a part-time lecturer on social media at Madison Area Technical College. InBusiness Magazine named Brian to its “40 Under 40” list in 2012, and PRSA-Madison named him its 2013 Communicator of the Year. In 2015, Brian was selected for the State of Wisconsin’s Business Intelligence Team (a part of Economic Gardening) as a digital marketing specialist who works with second-stage companies ($1 million-$50 million in annual revenue). Outside of Revelation, Brian is the editor-in-chief of Madison Startups, an online publication that covers startup news in town. He also runs EatDrinkMadison.com, a Madison, Wis., restaurant and bar guide that is searchable by amenities, and he hosted a restaurant TV show on the local CW affiliate called “Open Seating.” Brian graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in journalism and major in strategic communications.

 

Janelle Higgins

Janelle Higgins, CIC is a commercial insurance agent for TRICOR Insurance, specializes in assisting local business owners with their commercial insurance & risk management needs since 2007.  She is very active in her community and has served as President for the Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs (WWE) organization.  Janelle currently serves as Director of GIRLS’BIZ, a nonprofit where middle school girls are taught  financial literacy, networking & communication skills.  As an Ambassador for the Middleton Chamber of Commerce, she encourages businesses to connect, ensuring their growth.  Janelle also volunteers as a speaker for the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) that supports area businesses and new entrepreneurs. Cyber Security is a growing concern to both individuals and business owners.  In Janelle’s Cyber Security presentation, she will share local data breach cases that illustrate the financial impact to the business owner, and solutions to mitigate these risks.  Her clients feel confident and secure by understanding the new Cyber Liability and Data Breach Insurance options.  With new awareness, business owners have affordable choices for protecting themselves and their businesses against data breaches and cyber-attacks.
