In this New Business Seminar, hosted by The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) you will gain a basic understanding of Wisconsin’s tax laws.

Schedule: 1:30 – 3:30 pm
Fees: This course is being offered at no cost to participants by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue Speaker’s Bureau. Although there is no charge to attend, participants must register online before the session.

Instructors
Paul Walters
Paul Walters has worked for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue for 30 years as a Revenue Agent in the Compliance Unit – Investigations. His career began in a front counter customer service agent role for 8 years, followed by 18 years as a field agent. In the last 4 years, he has served as a Revenue Agent in the Investigation position. Paul has been a member of the Outreach & Education Team since May 2023 and has presented numerous New Business Tax Seminars, both in-person and online. He has a BS in Education – Broadfield Social Studies and earned 33 graduate credits in History.
Tracey Mueller
Tracey Mueller has worked for the department of revenue since June of 2000. She currently is a Revenue Tax Specialist in the Office of Technical Services specializing in sales and use tax. Tracey is the coordinator of the Speaker’s Bureau and still enjoys presenting on sales and use tax topics. She drafts various Wisconsin publications, administrative rules, tax releases and articles for the Wisconsin Tax Bulletin, and private letter rulings, etc., related to Wisconsin sales and use tax. Tracey is also the department’s Streamlined Sales Tax Specialist. Prior to joining the Technical Services staff, she was responsible for auditing large national and multi-national companies for sales and use tax as a field auditor. Earlier in her career she was responsible for auditing individuals and corporations for income, franchise, sales and use, and withholding taxes. She also provided taxpayer assistance.
Prior to working at the state, Tracey worked various accounting and managerial roles in the private sector in a variety of industries.
Tracey Mueller holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
